LIMITED EDITIONS
The new Mock-up Paintings series presents three art editions (Untitled, 2025, screen print on Canson Infinity Arches Aquarelle Rag 310gsm, 70 × 50 cm), printed on museum-grade archival paper.
Each work is hand-signed and numbered, in limited editions of 10, 20, and 30 copies.
The project originates from large silkscreen reproductions of paintings that no longer exist, the originals have been destroyed. What remains are their images, transferred onto new surfaces as definitive testaments. In this sense, documentation takes the place of the original.
Through the notion of the “image of the image,” the artist enacts a double distancing from the traditional concept of painting. In the original works, painting was already reproduced on canvas surfaces. In these editions, however, the process moves one step further: what we encounter is the reproduction of the reproduction, created from the four original paintings, now permanently erased.
The series reflects, within the medium of painting, on how contemporary art is increasingly mediated through blogs, social networks, and documentary images.
This new system of communication not only shapes the way artworks are experienced but also redefines how they are represented and remembered. In painting, such a shift brings formerly secondary elements, the irregularities of the wall behind it, the shadows it casts, the photographic framing, to the forefront, making them integral to the perceptual experience.
